Introduction
The Department of Korean Language Education for Foreigners aims for cultivating experts in the area of Korean language education both in and out of Korea. The department offers theoretical education including studies in Korean language, general linguistics and Korean language education methodology along with practical training. Through systematic education and training, the Department of Korean Language Education for Foreigners contributes to globalization of Korean language and improvement in the quality of Korean language education
Education Goals
By offering both theoretical education and practical training, the Department of Korean Language Education for Foreigners equips students for an expert in teaching and researching in the field of Korean language education. As Korean language teachers, they are educated to have in-depth understanding of Korean culture in global point of view, along with knowledge and skills in teaching Korean language. As researchers, they are educated to be capable of applying their educational experience to language teaching theory, so that they can contribute to enhance quality of Korean language education studies.
Curriculum
The department offers curriculum which covers both theoretical education and practical training. Theoretical education includes studies in Korean language, general linguistics and Korean language education methodology. Systematic practical training are offered through on-going class observation, mock classes and self-development program through workshops and seminars.
The curriculum is based on requirements of The Basic Law on Korean Language which specifies the academic field of subjects for an educational institution to grant a Korean teacher's certificate.

Principles
- Choosing major subjects including related to other majors has to be proved by a professor.
- Students have to be proved by professors when they need to get credits and apply for comprehensive examinations.
- Students who want to hand in their master's or doctor's dissertations have to present their theses in front of major professors and graduate school students.
- Students who are going to hand in doctor's dissertations have to run more than 2 theses to their major. One of them has to be registered in National Research Foundation of Korea. Students must have records of presentation of theses.
